Loft Conversion Questions

Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion?
Most loft conversions fall under Permitted Development rights — no planning application needed. The exceptions are mansard conversions, listed buildings, and conservation areas. We check this for free at the site visit and handle any required applications.
Will my home be liveable during the build?
Yes. Loft work is carried out from above, so your living space stays fully usable throughout. We protect your staircase and landing with dust boards and clean up at the end of every working day.
How long does it take from first call to handover?
Typically 10–14 weeks total — 1–2 weeks for structural drawings, 8–12 weeks on site. We give you a fixed programme before we start and stick to it. Weekly updates throughout.
What's actually included in the price?
Everything: structural steelwork and joists, insulation to building regulations, a new staircase, full electrics and lighting, plastering and decoration throughout. If an en-suite is included: plumbing, tiling, and all sanitaryware. One fixed price — nothing added later.
How do I know if my loft is suitable?
Head height is the key factor — you need at least 2.2m from floor to ridge for usable space. We assess your roof structure, joists, Permitted Development status, and access at the free site visit before you commit to anything.
